The Forever Work in Progress
One 90 Minute Session
$150

Mess Level 2

This course invites our artists to discover something incredibly freeing about the act of creating art.

Together, we will work on a single, collaborative piece—an ever-evolving Work in Progress. Each time this course is held, the canvas becomes a new opportunity: to add, remove, scrape, draw with pencil or pen, color with marker or crayon, paint, sand, or layer in collage. Anything goes.

Art making is, at its core, about discovery and learning. And yet, so often we place pressure on ourselves to make things perfect, to create something that others will like, or that we ourselves will feel proud of. Sometimes, those pressures can stop us from even starting.

This piece is about letting go of that, just grabbing some colors and tools and doing some stuff.
It’s about learning without fear of what things look like.

As we work, we might make changes that cover someone else’s contribution. Others may shift or transform what we’ve done.

Over time, this canvas will hold layers upon layers of marks and ideas. It will evolve. And in doing so, it will become a living testament to the many artists who contributed to its story.
